Tarthang Tulku has written in Joy of Being, “When body and mind are totally open, there remains only the sense of spaciousness, in which you may glimpse the quality that some masters have called the lightness of being. When you mature in this practice, you can enter this field of being whenever you wish.” Kum Nye instructor Donna Morton will speak on how the feelings of calmness developed through Kum Nye practice can connect with the fresh open quality of space. In doing this, we move toward a true lightness of being.

All are more than welcome to join the meditation and chanting session 1 hour prior to the talk.

About the Tibetan Yoga for Healing and Insight lecture series:

Tibetan Yoga (Kum Nye) was developed for the West at the Nyingma Institute in the early 1970’s. Based on the body/mind disciplines of esoteric Buddhism and the teachings of Tibetan medicine, Kum Nye practice bridges the gap between the body and mind, allowing individuals to easily connect (or reconnect) to a sense of wholeness and ease. Over the past thirty-eight years, Kum Nye breath, movement, and awareness exercises have been successfully applied to reduce stress, enhance healing, and, most importantly, deepen meditation and catalyze spiritual development.

In the month of May, the Nyingma Institute celebrates Tibetan Yoga through a series of free public talks and reduced-price workshops (see Special Events section for information on workshops). The talks include demonstrations of Kum Nye practice along with discussion of their application and history.
